E3 2006: Sony Jumped On The Wave

Sony's Phil Harrison say their controller represents them jumping on the motion-sensing controller wave...
Harrison has said that Sony's new tilt-dectection in its PS3 controller was something that had been thought to have includeded "since about 1994", though said that they have waited until now to implement it as "you kind of have to wait for certain things to converge." It is interesting to note that gaming site Eurogamer recently reported the controller only reached some developers two weeks before E3 itself.
When questioned on if he thought Sony were just copying Nintendo's Wii Remote, he said: "Well, we didn't start the wave, but we've kind of jumped onto that wave. I'm quite happy to admit that, but that will be one of the defining characteristics of next-generation gaming, the complexity and sophistication of input that you can get from a very simple device."
This news will not exactly help some people's viewpoint that Nintendo have been 'copied'...
