E3 2006: Two Twilight Princesses

Nintendo finally put the issue to Twilight Princess to rest: there will be two versions of the game. One Gamecube, one Wii. Both at launch.

To what extent Link's upcoming adventure would be compatible with Nintendo's Wii console has been unclear, ever since NGC magazine claimed that some parts be would playable with the Wii's unique control interface a few months back. Nintendo resolved the speculation at their E3 conference by announcing that the game will arrive in two different versions.

One will be a Gamecube version, and the other will be Wii. Both will be released on the Wii's launch day. The good news is that for the first time, a Nintendo console will launch with a Zelda title: the bad news is that Gamecube owners will definitely have to wait until around Thanksgiving for their last great game. Although, with the opportunity to fire arrows and boomerangs in real time with the Wiimote, will anyone be interested in the GC edition? We have at least five months to find out anyway.

We'll have more on Twilight Princess, and the rest of the show, in the coming days.
