Wii Health Pack surfaces at E3- with a brand-new peripheral.
Nintendo at their press conference have just announced their next assault on the the expanded audience- Wii Fit. Formerly known as Wii Health Pack, the game features four genres of activities, including muscle conditioning, yoga poses, and balancing games, comprising over 40 activities in total. The software will come packaged with an intriguing peripheral called the Wii Balance Board , which measures a gamer's weight as well as enabling full body control of games. Tilting your body allows you to control the gameplay. In the video presentation, yoga poses, as well as press ups were demonstrated. In fact, it seems that a wide variety of body movements can be measured by the peripheral. It's fully wireless too. Stat-tracking la Brain Training is a key aspect of the software, which encourages daily play.
During the on-stage demonstration, Reggie's body mass index was tested- coming in a little higher than was recommended, in case you were wondering. "muscle is heavier than fat" said the big man. Who are we to argue? Unfortunately, in a cock-up reminiscent of Red Steel's debut showing last year, the technology didn't quite do as it was told in the case of some of the on-stage demonstrations. Full Mii integration is of course a key feature of the package.
A football heading competition also took place on-stage, between Reggie and Miyamoto himself. Reggie, true to form, kicked ass and took Shigsy's name. The cheek.
Could this be Nintendo's next big mass-market success? If it comes in at an affordable price, then we think this could be absolutely huge.
