E3 2008: Zelda, Pikmin and Mario Team Working?

Shigeru Miyamoto confirms that development for Zelda Wii is underway along with hints of other games...

Strangely enough, quite a few people said how the next Zelda Wii would be shown at this years E3, but as you can see this never happened. For now though, Zelda fans can be sure that Zelda Wii is in development, along with the Zelda DS team, confirmed by Shigeru Miyamoto himself.

Miyamoto did go on to say that Zelda is a franchise that needs some big new ideas, so the team is focused on trying to find those very ideas. What the gaming god said can be found below.

"The Zelda team in particular always works on Zelda titles. The core members of the Zelda team have for a very long time now been focused on Zelda games, and continue to focus on Zelda games, so they are hard at work and working away," Miyamoto said. "And then, of course, we have the DS Zelda team as well, so even there we're having some switching of people in and out where the DS team is mixing in with the Wii team and working on the Wii version."

"I don't necessarily think it will change that drastically, but I think that Zelda is a franchise that does need some big new unique ideas," he said. "And so the team right now is very focused on trying to find those ideas."

When asked about Pikmin 3 for the Wii, Miyamoto said "The Pikmin team is, of course, still there and maybe we'll have something to talk about before too long." So gamers just might see a sequel in the future. He want on to say that the team behind New Super Mario Bros. is also working hard and games will only be shown when Nintendo feels that game is a state to be shown to everyone.

Speaking about Mario Galaxy, Miyamoto stated even though the leaders of the Mario, Zelda and Pikmin team are within 150 feet of his desk, he has regular video conferences with the Galaxy team in Tokyo. And finally, when IGN said that they wanted Miyamoto to make a new Galaxy game, he said "Leave it to me".

What big new ideas will be in Zelda Wii? Will there be a Pikmin 3 and hopefully a Galaxy sequel? Stay with us to find out.
