E3 2010: First Zelda: Skyward Sword Story Details

Shigeru Miyamoto just spoke at Nintendo's E3 roundtable event for developers, and divulged some of Zelda: Skyward Sword's story...

Nintendo unveiled the latest Zelda title for the Wii in style yesterday at their E3 conference, with legendary game designer Shigeru Miyamoto bursting through a screen to demo the game, albeit with some technical malfunctions.

While we were treated to a beautiful new trailer, the story for the title was left unilluminated. Until now! Speaking moments ago at a roundtable event for developers, Miyamoto revealed that this game's Link was born in a cloud-based city named Skyloft, and would descend to the newly discovered world underneath - a world full of evil - on a quest to find the Skyward Sword.

The Skyward Sword apparently becomes the Master Sword, while also possessing intelligence, and is able to transform into the semi-human female fairy creature we saw in last year's E3 teaser.

The game is apparently just a few dungeons short of completion, while the story of the title is complete and the graphics are undergoing a final polish. Noting the new graphical style, Miyamoto said it reflect his love of Impressionist Art, citing painter Cezanne as an important influence.
