Mario and Donkey Kong are doing battle once more on the Nintendo DS. Unleash the dwarf-bots!
Following on from last year's DSiWare treat, Minis March Again, Nintendo have announced that the fourth instalment in the Mario vs. Donkey Kong series will receive a retail release on Nintendo DS.
Mini-Land Mayhem! sees Donkey Kong kicking off again after narrowly missing out on getting a free Mini Pauline toy from Mario's theme park. The brute kidnaps Mario's old flame and rekindles his rivalry with the moustachioed one; Mario must use his army of miniature robotic replicas of himself to rescue Pauline and restore order to the park.
He's grinning now, but wait until the biplanes come along.
Similar to Lemmings, the aim is to use various items and tricks to move your Mini Mario robots to the end of each level. Mini-Land Mayhem! boasts level sharing features via local wireless and Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, and online level-editing contests to take part in.
In addition, Mini-Land Mayhem! will make use of Super Guide, Nintendo's new helpful hint system which has appeared to hold struggling gamers' hands in New Super Mario Bros. Wii and in a slightly tweaked form in Super Mario Galaxy 2. This marks the first time a DS game will use the feature, which Nintendo claims will "make it easy for anyone to pick up and play".
Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem! is due out "Holiday 2010" in the US.
