The exclusive Ubisoft FPS IP for Wii U has been announced.
Newly announced Killer Freaks from Outer Space is being developed ground up as a competitive multiplayer title for the console and is being developed by Ubisoft France which is set to "redefine the concept". Ubisoft also stressed that what is being shown is an early version of the game and that the development kits they have aren't final.
The game is set in London where the title is described as a half horror, half comedy game featuring aliens dubbed as 'Freaks' which somewhat resembles Rabbids with mechs later appearing. Ubisoft also expressed that there will be other freaks in the game that never got seen in either demo or trailer. The main character Darren Boyle is said to like destroying and blowing things up. The character you play as is one of the few survivors in the world and you'll be killing the aliens with various weapons. The game is being cited as bringing First Person Shooters to the next level.
The tablet can be moved to aim and use the the circle pads to move your character. The tablet is stated as being very precise in aiming and can also be used to scan the area for enemies. The game includes environmental damage, such as blowing holes in walls.
The second demo of the title uses a unique way of using the controller dubbed "real-time enemy director" or "Red Mode" for short, in which one player will have a top down view on the Wii U controller to spawn various alien freaks or nests which in turn depletes the players energy resource to kill the other player who is set to fend the freaks off in a first person view. The title will also include both local and online play and will support up to 4 players.
