Activision wants you to bring Spyro and friends back to Skylands later this year...

Activision drew a few blank faces earlier this year when they announced their Spyro reboot. Not only would the iconic purple dragon take on a radically different look, the game itself would incorporate a rather unique selling point. Players will be incentivised to pick up special figurines of the game's protagonists and play through the levels as them. Each character has their own unique abilities, and your file's data is saved inside the figurine. This essentially allows cross-platform play, as you can take your figurine around to a friend's house and play it on their console.

Activision has released a new trailer to show off this novel selling point.

Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure is due out on about half a dozen platforms later this year, including Wii and Nintendo 3DS.
