Nintendo confirms that Skyward Sword is set before Ocarina of Time.

As eager E3 attendees got to grips with The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword yesterday Nintendo confirmed that it is a prequel to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, which is due to be released on the 3DS next week.

The official information on the website describes Skyward Sword as laying "the foundation for the events in the critically acclaimed The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time", meaning that Zelda timeline speculators at least have one thing confirmed.
