E3 2011: Wii U Likely To Cost More Than $250

Satoru Iwata has stated that Wii U is likely to cost more than $250 upon launch.

In a recent interview with Nikkei, translated by Bloomberg, Satoru Iwata stated that Wii U is likely to be priced higher than 20,000 which translates into 150 and $250.

When the Wii first launched in 2006 it cost 180 in the UK and $250 in America so some people may be disappointed by the rise in price for this new console.

Don't get too excited/disappointed/angry yet though as these are not concrete details, merely estimates. It is also yet to be decided whether Nintendo will even give an official price or whether they will leave pricing up to retailers as they did with the 3DS. Stay tuned as we'll update you on any news regarding price as it breaks.
