ECTS 2003: Judge Dredd Hands-On

Meandering around the show, I stumbled across a playable version of Dredd Vs Death. Being a fan of the characters, I decided to place my hands on the control and begin the game.

A guy from Rebellion (the creators of Dredd) talked me through it. I had a mission much alike one from TS2: I had to kill 60 rebels before they killed me. The feature I most liked about the game was that Dredd's gun has many enhancements and attachments. In fact, if you're bored of bullets, just a simple press and you can alternate between rockets, fire or explosive shells.

Yes, this game does rule that much.

The bots were quite easy to kill. However, when a group of six respawned on me, I died very quickly. Not one to give up, I retried and decided to take them all out with a sub-machine gun. Which was fun. After about thirty of the sixty needed deaths, I wanted more fire-power, so in the lush and beautiful environment I blew up the rest of them with a rocket grenade thing (it didn't have a name, all right!).

I completed that mission in three minutes, which impressed the guy from Rebellion, so he let me onto another level. This time I had to decapitate the heads of 16 zombies in less than two minutes. Lots of fun was had as shotguns always rule, especially when you're Judge Dredd.

Sadly, that was it, sixteen zombies later my brief Dredd Vs Death experience was over. It was awesome and I hadn't even played the actual game. One thing for sure is that, when this game gets released on the GameCube, it'll be one you shouldn't miss. I'm off to trial and execution of some people now. Where is my shotgun?
