Etrian Odyssey IV Opens Strongly in Japan

The latest Japanese charts are out, and it's good news for third parties on 3DS.
A total of three new third party games broke into the top ten this week, with the highlight being Atlus's Etrian Odyssey IV. The latest iteration in the tough-as-nails dungeon crawling series just about achieved the best debut of the franchise, despite being the first game for the relatively youthful 3DS platform. Etrian Odyssey IV does not have a release date for Europe - in fact the only game in the series which has had a release in this region is the first DS game.
It was Pokémon Black 2 and Pokémon White 2 which remained top of the software chart for yet another week. The sequels have now racked up a combined total of two million units in Japan. They are due to launch in Europe on October 12th.
Here is the Media Create top 20 for the week of July 2nd to 8th.
