I am a big Nintendo fan but i think that Rare will make games for PS2. It obvious that Nintendo have made a deal with Sony - Square for Nintendo and Rare for Sony. Sounds logical and that's the truth. Sniff, sniff!

Like a follower of Rare's games, I don't think that Rare will go multiplatform because very simply, Rare earns a lot of money selling their games with Nintendo's consoles and they use a lot of characters that are the respective property of Nintendo (Fox McCloud for example).

I reckon rare will stay, as they announced shed loads of games for the cube before the rumours started. I personally can't see the point in Rare releasing all these screens and plans for making games (and also starting work on them), then stopping mid way through development and saying now were going multi format. It is a complete waste of their time as well as everyone elses. Plus why would Nintendo really let a developer respected so highly by the whole global gaming community slip away? I think not.

Very intresting opinion from Ryan, if you "combine" this with Matt's (I*N Cube) who mentioned once that he knows that Rare have ordered Dev.-Kit's for XBox, respectively RARE is going multi-format. If you pay attention to an other rumour which says that Rare are working on their first MMORPG. It could be that Rare are working on Kameo for all platforms, as a MMORPG ... this much better than a single player title for other plattforms than Nintendo, from my point of view - the view of a Nintendo "loyalist" ;-)

I am getting sick of the people who think that Rare will be developing for other platforms. It will NEVER happen (unless Nintendo goes third-party, which has the same odds as me marrying a super model). Rare is a Nintendo second-party, which means that they are owned by Nintendo, but not a part of Nintendo. Nintendo is the majority stock holder in Rare, which means that they control the company more or less.

Here's my theory- all the Rare third-party rumours were born out of online message board sites. When Rare heard about the rumours, they talked to Nintendo and created an ingenious marketing campaign. Think about it. XBOX and PS2 owners have been wooing over the fact that Conker or Perfect Dark might come to their console. Now, Rare sits back and lets the rumours and speculation to continue, and of course lets the tension build around what Rare might say publicly in the end. Finally, when or if Rare announces their exclusive deal with Nintendo GameCube, PS2 and XBOX owners may feel a sudden emptiness in their gaming console. The games they hoped for their console won't make it onto any other one but Nintendo. And that, in my opinion, could encourage gamers to purchase a GameCube and a few Rare games, just for them to fill their desires for a Rare game.
