Nintendo of America has just finished up airing a comprehensive look at the world of Xenoblade Chronicles X. Whilst much of it was gameplay footage taken by the Nintendo Treehouse team, we've got the introductory video providing a beautiful tour of the planet of Mira.

You can get a sense of the scale of the sprawling alien world that lies before you, and a closer look at some of the inhabitants.

There's also a confirmation that the mech vehicles, which will be vital for both exploration and combat, are called Skells.

Xenoblade Chronicles X releases in Japan on Wednesday, and later in 2015 in the west.
