Games Day: Soccer Slam Impressions

My first match was single player against the computer. I controlled Scottish weirdos (sorry can't remember the name of the team), against some big angry monsters. Each team consisted out of only four players: one goalkeeper and three field players.
Ok so the match started, now what? Basically it's all just soccer without any rules, the ball can't go out, and you won't be booked if you tackle your opponent. You can hit, punch, kick or throw the other players, everything is allowed to try and get the ball. At the bottom of the screen there's a bar, and when that bar is full, you're able to do some supermoves. Those moves usually take place in the air, where your player for example first makes a 360, and then kicks the ball in the goal. Those 'supermoves' don't mean that you're for certain gonna score by the way, cause the keeper is pretty hard to beat.
Sega didn't only put their efforts in the fun-element of this game, the company also made sure that it looks good. Each player has his own certain funny property, be it his facial expression or his way of playing soccer.
After the single-player game against the computer, I decided to challenge Tim. Now single-player mode was already really cool, but the best part is the multi-player. All sports games are usually better in multi-player mode than single-player. You play against the person sitting next to you, and you can laugh at him when he screws up or when you beat him. Multi-player in Soccer Slam is even better, because you can now beat each other up, without getting a yellow or a red card. In my opinion, Soccer Slam really belongs next to Super Monkey Ball and Super Smash Bros: Melee in the top of best multi-player games for GameCube.
Like I said in the beginning, Sega Soccer Slam is a highly addictive game. The fact that you can play soccer without any rules, the funny looks of the players, all cool moves and the great multi-player mode make this game a must have for anyone who likes multi-player games.
