GCN Interview: Extreme G3
Posted 22 Jan 2002 at 13:52 by Tim Symons
had the opportunity to interview Harvey Elliott from Acclaim about Extreme G3 for the GameCube. Here is a snippit of their interview:
How is Extreme G3 different from other racing games?
[ASC] Anyone can put a speedometer up on the screen and say 1,000mph, but very few can make you feel it. The game is built for racing at exceptionally high speeds around tracks that we think are technically probable - as in that someone, somewhere could actually build them if they wanted to.
What was your main focus on the game?
[ASC] We knew we wanted an exceptionally fast futuristic racer, but also that the game had to be playable at high speeds. The higher engine classes are definitely for the more hard-core gamers, but it has to be playable. We wanted people watching the game to think 'how the hell did they just do that' but be able to do that themselves when they tried. The game also has its own graphical and audio styles, we wanted people to be able to recognise it as Extreme G 3, so even if they just see a small section of track, or hear a bit of the music, we wanted people to know what it was and want to play it.
