Ideas not possible with GameCube-GBA connectivity could see a return on Wii U

The GameCube was the testing ground for many of Nintendo's modern products and nearly gave us 3D gaming and motion controls before their time. Nintendo held back with those ideas though, but couldn't wait for dual screen gaming which came in the form of the GBA link-up.

Sadly though, not many titles used it, and the few that did weren't overly innovative. Miyamoto hopes that some of the many ideas he once had for the GBA/GameCube link-up can now be realised with the Wii U and its GamePad controller.

Speaking recently to GamesMaster, Miyamoto spoke about how developers weren't very accepting of the innovation at the time, but hopes that now they can embrace it, and some of his previous ideas can come to life.

"I think it is very likely. I cannot tell specifically what ideas I used to have at the time which migh be realised this time around. But as you might recall, at one of the E3 shows several years ago we showcased a game of Pac-Man Versus, which was a really interesing game. Unfortunately however it was rather hard for everyone to own four GBAs at the same time."

Could we possibly see a Pac-Man Versus type game on the Nintendo eShop? Or perhaps something even more exciting like a sequel for Four Swords? Only time will tell, but with the likes of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate allowing for Wii U to 3DS connectivity, Nintendo could already be churning out the unrealised ideas of yesterday.
