Impressions: Rogue Leader

With Super Monkey Ball and Rogue Leader accompianing my brand new Gamecube, eating, sleeping and other non-essential actions have been waved, because they are that damn good.
Oh God, Rogue Leader is so good it's unbelievable. The whole thing is drenched in classic Star Wars atmosphere, it's the ultimate experience for any Star Wars fan. The way clips from the movies play in the background in the menus, the classic quotes and having everything look so gorgeous.
But it's not just polygon count or any confusing specs that impresses me so much, it's how the geniuses at Factor 5 have implemented them in so many god-smacking ways. Whether it's dozens and dozens of TIEs all flying in the screen shooting lasers all over the place without a hint of slowdown, or the eye-melting water effects or the superb lighting effects it really is awe-inspiring.
Coupled with the realistic gameplay based on missions straight from the movies you can't help but feel in the movies. Everything is spot-on, Factor 5 seemed to have gone the extra mile in every way possible to stick you right in the middle of those classic Star Wars moments that you always wished you could be in. Arguably Gamecubes best game, expect a review sometime soon.
