Iwata promises a "reasonably" priced Wii U at launch

Nintendo currently remains tight-lipped about the exact pricing of the Wii U, although that hasn't stopped retailers from guessing at everywhere between £200-300.

Speaking in Japanese daily newspaper Yomiuri Shimbun (translation courtesy of Andriasang), Nintendo's CEO Satoru Iwata has promised that the company won't make the same mistake as they did with the Nintendo 3DS.

Addressing the price point Mr. Iwata said that it would be "reasonable", before adding: "We won't make the same mistake that we did with the 3DS, which was considered relatively high by consumers."

The newspaper quotes an analyst as saying 30,000 yen would be the break-even point for Nintendo, which is equal to £240.

Satoru Iwata also commented on Nintendo's current financial situation.  It has been a tough year for them financially, which Mr. Iwata contributes to the rising yen and the 3DS price cut.

However, he ends on a positive note by stating: "we've fixed the 3DS profitability issue, and pledge to turn profitable by the end of this fiscal year."
