Fan-favourite Japanese video game producer Keiji Inafune has started a Kickstarter in an attempt to get his new classic-inflected project released. The former influential Capcom man, best known for his work on the Mega Man series and Dead Rising, hopes to get production for Mighty No.9 funded through fan donations on the popular crowd funding website.
Mighty No.9 is a side-scrolling action game that looks to be heavily influenced by the Mega Man series Inafune is so heavily associated with. We see him explaining the philosophy behind the project in the Partridge-esque Kickstarter video.
<center><Mighty No.9 is initially planned for release on PC and Steam if the $900,000 goal is met. However, further stretch goals have been added for Mac/Linux releases at $1,350,000, and Wii U/PS3/360 releases at $2,500,000. It's a lofty goal, but the Kickstarter already has close to $400,000 pledged, so don't rule it out reaching those heights in the 30-day limit.
