Keiji Inafune's Mighty No. 9 will be releasing on Wii U

Mighty No. 9 - the new game by former Capcom producer Keiji Inafune - has been confirmed for a Wii U release after passing the latest stretch goal on Kickstarter.

Inafune revealed the Kickstarter project at the start of this month, and it quickly passed the $900,000 goal to get the game funded. The stretch goal for Wii U, Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game, was a lofty $2.2m, but the Kickstarter has now passed that total with 14 days still left to go.

Inafune has promised more modes and stages for Mighty No. 9 if further stretch goals are reached.

Mighty No. 9 looks heavily influenced by the classic 2D Mega Man series - the series that Inafune is most commonly associated with. It is due out in 2015.
