Kingdom Come Deliverance – Royal Edition releases today on Nintendo Switch!

Kingdom Come Deliverance is a unique experience, where your actions truly matter and influence the world around you. It’s also a great looking, realistic open world, released elsewhere in 2018, and the kind of thing the Switch isn’t known for handling well.

But the developers have worked wonders and done an incredible job of porting this taxing game onto Nintendo’s ageing hardware, and have delivered a title that runs and looks great.

The usual suspects on YouTube such as SwitchUp and Digital Foundry have put this new Switch port through its paces, and the phrase ‘impossible port’ is being batted around like a well worn shuttle-cock.

It's worth noting that a considerable day one patch is available, which is the version SwitchUp looked at, whereas Digital Foundry went over the release version. 

Eurogamer are also impressed with the title:

"Overall the inclusion of SSR, parallax occlusion mapping and SVOGI is far beyond what I'd expected of a Switch release.

It's impressive too that tree density at range is identical to Xbox One, while much of the geometry is a match.

Light shafts are also included - albeit at a low resolution - flitting between the trees at sundown to create a picturesque image."
