Chalk this one up as one nobody saw coming, last night's Nintendo Direct finished on a new mode for Mario Kart 8: 200cc mode.

For the first time ever, there will be an even faster class than the familiar 150cc mode, and it will be available to race on all tracks, both locally and online.

The new class will arrive as part of a free software update for the game on April 23rd.
