Today, EA and Steven Spielberg announced the sequel to the block bashing greatness that was Boom Blox.

"BOOM BLOX Bash Party is a wild social gaming experience," said Steven Spielberg.
"We know families and friends really enjoyed playing the original BOOM BLOX together, so we designed more explosive multiplayer experiences with BOOM BLOX Bash Party."

Boom Blox Bash Party will feature over 400 new levels, twice the multiplayer challenges and now some levels take place in zero gravity, under water and other unrevealed circumstances that should prove interesting considering the game revolves around physics.

New Blox types also appear like the virus and conveyor blox and with new cylindrical and wedge shapes as well as new tools of destruction, namely a new cannon, a paint ball and a slingshot. The lovable block animals that populated the first game now play a more active role, serving as blox themselves.

"In BOOM BLOX Bash Party we are taking the game elements to the extreme," says Amir Rahimi, Senior Producer.
"In the original BOOM BLOX, we really focused on perfecting the game's physics so now we can push the boundaries of physics, offering exciting new challenges and completely new ways to play."

The online component is also more advanced now, players can now play and rate new levels coming from EA as well as other players, in addition to just sharing them directly like in the first one. The Create Mode now allows the player to use the same tools that the developer team used to create the puzzles too.

The game doesn't have a specific release date, but it's expected in North America and Europe in Spring 2009. Meanwhile check out the first two screens!
