Media: Dead Space Extraction Gameplay Footage

Head inside to see the Executive Producer of Dead Space Extraction showing gameplay footage for the first time!

EA Redwood Shores and Eurocom have been hard at work for a year now on Dead Space Extraction, the prequel to the original game available on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. Much to everyone's surprise, the game is an on rails shooter instead of a 3rd person survival horror.

Talking with IGN, Dead Space Extraction Executive Producer Steve Papoutsis gives off some bits of info on the game and how it controls. As stated before, dismemberment and zero G still play a big part in the game as does telekinesis, you point with the Wii Remote, use the nunchuck for additional moves like melee attacks and turning the remote 90 degrees activates the weapons' secondary fire mode.

Another novelty is the "Glow Worm", a tube that has to be shaken (by shaking the remote obviously) to illuminate dark areas. Problem is, while you're going crazy and giving the worm a good waggle you can't shoot, so you'll need to think things out. The game looks visually stunning and contrary to what's been said so far, there are no pre-rendered graphics, everything is running in real time.

Also of note is that there are various puzzles spread throughout the game to hinder your progress and the co-op mode lets a 2nd player jump in on the game seamlessly without having to navigate through menus or start over.

Don't forget to watch the video and read the entire IGN article here. There's still no precise release date for Dead Space Extraction, but it's expected this fall.
