Square Enix have announced a new WiiWare game based on the Final Fantasy franchise, and we've got the first screenshot!

No, it's not a spin-off from a classic 90's sitcom, it's a brand new Final Fantasy game for WiiWare! Well, we say 'brand new'...

Final Fantasy IV: The After Years was originally released for mobile phones in Japan as an expansion of the story of the 1991 SNES RPG Final Fantasy IV (which has since been re-released on the Game Boy Advance and the Nintendo DS). The first screenshot for the WiiWare version can be seen below.

The title has clocked up over 3 million downloads in Japan so far, which is an indicator as to how well it will fare on Nintendo's service.

Final Fantasy IV: The After Years will be launching worldwide on WiiWare this year.
