Heroes of Ruin is appealing from the get-go for two key reasons. It's an original, 3DS-exclusive game designed specifically to utilise the system's unique features, and it's been developed by the under-appreciated n-Space; previously responsible for the Nintendo-published Geist and the technically-impressive DS Call of Duty iterations.

The core real-time strategy-RPG gameplay is complimented by a number of neat features. The drop-in/drop-out online co-op mode is fully compatible with voice-chat. SpotPass updates promise to provide new challenges daily. And the 3DS' StreetPass feature creates a 'Trader's Network, whereby you can sell items and acquire other wares that would be otherwise unobtainable.

Published by Square Enix, Heroes of Ruin is due out next year.
