Another batch of The Last Story's lovely concept art awaits your viewing pleasure...
Okay. So this month on Wii may not exactly be where it's 'happening' in terms of JRPG-love, but that only strengthens our resolve to look blissfully into the future to see what's on the horizon. And while there may not be any mainline Final Fantasy games to look forward to soon, Nintendo fans can console themselves by knowing that series creator Hironobu Sakaguchi is bringing his next major project The Last Story exclusively to Wii.
Last week, we brought you the first info on the game's wider world, but now the curtain has been inched back on the central populated area of the game, Ruli City.
It's been revealed that small villages from France and Italy were used as the inspiration for the game's towns, in order to convey the feeling that there is a rich history behind them. Sakaguchi-san has spoken of his aspirations to make Ruli City a large, dynamic world that players will want to explore and get lost in.
Inhabitants will also allegedly change their behaviour over time, sometimes noticeably, other times more subtly. Many developers pledge they strive to create a "living, breathing world", with their games, but the small number of games that actually go some way to achieving this feat is telling of how tall an order it is. Sakaguchi seems adamant to give Ruli City that touch of realism.
The Last Story is still shrouded in mystery. We hope to learn much more about the game... some time this year.
