Nintendo has confirmed that Mega Man X will be the latest classic game to see a release on the Wii U Virtual Console.

The 1993 SNES title is still one of the most popular and critically acclaimed entries in the Mega Man franchise, and spawned an entire new sub-series of shoot 'em ups.

Mega Man X is already readily available to Wii U owners via the Shop Channel on Wii Mode, but the Wii U eShop release will let gamers play it on their GamePad.

A European release date is yet to be confirmed by Nintendo of Europe, but the NOA trailer has it releasing in North America on May 30th.
