Metal Gear Rising goes top in Japan, Wii U slumps below Vita for first time

The latest Media Create charts from Japan are out, and following weeks of 3DS dominance in the software chart, Sony's PS3 finally gets some revengeance (sigh) with Konami's Metal Gear Rising.

The action-packed slash 'em up came in straight at number one, pushing Dragon Quest VII down to number two; although it and third-placed Animal Crossing show signs of keeping up decent sales for at least a few more weeks.

Another notable entry was Namco Bandai's arcade port for Wii U Tank! Tank! Tank!, which performed eponymously. That games has recently been made available as a free-to-play title on the European eShop.

Here's the full software chart for the week of February 18th to 24th.

In the hardware chart, Wii U dropped below the 10k mark for the first time, and simultaneously lost its third place to Vita. With no real big-hitters on the immediate horizon, don't expect the current trend any time soon.
