Metroid Prime Federation Force Story Trailer and Details

Kensuke Tanabe took over the Nintendo Direct broadcast for the Federation Force section. It was mentioned that fans initially viewed the title in a negative light, so series director Tanabe took it upon himself to go into more details about the title.

As the newest entry in the Prime series, he claims that him and his team have put all of their passion and effort into this title, a title that has been in production since 2009.

Starting off life as a DSi title, it was intended to be an online shooter in the Metroid universe, but the limitations of the DSi made development tricky. With the added power of 3DS, this title has been able to come to life.

For over 10 years, Tanabe has wanted to look at the story between the Federation Force and Space Pirates and the battle that might ensue within that universe, he's happy that it has finally come to fruition in this title. Because of the focus on this main battle, with multiple characters, Samus could not be the main character and using the Federation Force as the main characters only made sense.

Similar to an RPG, this title gives players roles, such as healer or warrior, and certain weapons will be given to certain people at the start of each match, giving them a role to fulfill.

Tanabe says he wishes he could explain more, such as the inclusion of Blast Ball and the change of direction for the art style, but he will save that for a future time. For now, take a look at the new story trailer:
