The upcoming episodic adventure game Minecraft: Story Mode will be releasing on Wii U, developer Telltale Games has confirmed.

Minecraft: Story Mode is the latest character-driven adventure title from Telltale, who have also recently created adventure takes on the likes of The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones.

It will mark the first time Telltale has launched one of their games on Wii U, although they did create the likes of Back to the Future and Strong Bad's Cool Game For Attractive People for Wii.

More significantly, it is the first appearance of a Minecraft title on a Nintendo system, even after the original game has launched on virtually every other current system under the sun. Minecraft-proper on Wii U remains a fan-wish, but with certain Minecraft-inspired 'homages' doing very well on the Wii U eShop, it seems the hunger is there on the console.

Episode one of Minecraft: Story Mode is due to release later in 2015.
