Miyamoto wants to see Metroid and Star Fox on Wii U

Shigeru Miyamoto has indicated that he would like to see both Metroid and Star Fox appear in some form on Wii U.

The veteran designer - who created the Star Fox franchise and had a personal hand in the critically acclaimed Metroid Prime - made his views known in an interview with IGN. Miyamoto mused rather specifically about how he could envisage Metroid as a good fit for the Wii U interface.

"With Metroid it's very easy to imagine some interesting implementation for Wii U. I think that having another screen with the gyro built in really gives you a lot of interesting opportunities for development, and we can bring a lot of our games to life in a completely unique way with that.

I feel like the possibilities of the GamePad for Metroid could be really fantastic. There's certainly a lot that you could do there for that game."

However, Miyamoto went on to state that the series he "personally" wants most to see on Nintendo's next-generation system is Star Fox, although he offered no detailed ideas about what sort of form the game would take.

Star Fox went the whole of the last generation without making an appearance on a Nintendo system, although Star Fox 64 recently received a 3DS remake. Metroid on the other hand found plenty of love on Wii with two high-budget entries - Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and Metroid: Other M.
