Capcom and Nintendo today teased some neat cameos fans can enjoy in the upcoming Monster Hunter 4 on 3DS.

A Nintendo Direct which aired today for Japanese audiences revealed which Nintendo characters would be getting represented in the game. You'll be able to dress your Felyne companions in fetching Mario and Luigi costumes. Also, it looks like the game will feature a special mushroom which will make monsters bigger, a la the Super Mushroom.

Perhaps cooler, the game will also let you unlock a special Link costume, complete with Master Sword and Hylian Shield, to adorn your hunter. All these costumes will be available to unlock by downloading special quests once the game is out.

Here's the full Nintendo Direct if you want to see the costumes in action. The Mario cameos come in straight at the beginning, whilst the Link section starts at around 24 minutes.

Monster Hunter 4 is due out in Japan on September 14th. A western release is yet to be confirmed.
