A big part of last night's Direct was focused on providing us the ins and outs on Mario's next big sports title, Mario Tennis Aces. Trading in his throwable cap for a tennis racket, Mario and his friends and rivals will take the court on June 22! If you are in doubt if the game is for you, there will be a Pre-Launch Online Tournament with 1-on-1 matches going live somewhere before the game's release.

The game itself is looking to shape up nicely, and the Direct gave us details about the different playstyles and shots. You can use a single joy-con for motion controls (Wii Sports style) in Swing Mode. A special meter gives you access to a number of special moves, including Zone Shots, Zone Speed, or Special Shots. Some of these moves can break your racket and once all your rackets are broken, it is game over.

Next to local and online multiplayer Nintendo will also host events and online tournaments. If multiplayer is not your kind of game, Mario Tennis Aces also has a single player story mode including bosses.
