Tecmo Koei has announced that the next instalment in the cult horror Fatal Frame series is in development for Wii U.

Once again, it sounds like a project aided by Nintendo, with the game to be released exclusively on the console. It will be the fourth consecutive Nintendo-exclusive Fatal Frame title, following Fatal Frame IV, the Fatal Frame 2 remake, and 3DS spin-off Spirit Camera.

No other details have been divulged, other than some vague plans to expand the franchise into films and comics.

The series has a patchy localisation record, but Nintendo did bring both the quirky Spirit Camera and the Fatal Frame 2 Wii remake to Europe, so fingers crossed for this one.
