While fans are eagerly awaiting Mario Kart 8, due out in Europe during Spring 2014, Nintendo has announced some new details to whet their appetite.

During today's Nintendo Direct presentation Nintendo confirmed that Mario, Luigi and friends would be joint by a host of baby versions (such as Baby Luigi, Baby Mario and Baby Daisy).

Rosalina, who first appeared in Super Mario Galaxy on the Wii, has also been confirmed as returning, as well as appearing in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. game.

In addition to this, a new airport, sky-based and desert level were all shown off.
