The headline news of today's Nintendo Direct was the official launch date of the New Nintendo 3DS and New Nintendo 3DS XL.
The systems will release on February 13th. The day will also see the launches of The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D, and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate.
If you've been living under a rock recently, the New 3DS is fully compatible with all 3DS games and features, but boasts improved 3D viewing, a second analogue pad, additional shoulder buttons, and slightly beefier hardware inside. The improved hardware gives potential for New 3DS-exclusive games that won't work on standard 3DS systems, although the only one announced so far is Xenoblade Chronicles 3D.
The standard size model will also have removable face-plates, meaning you can customise the design of your console as you please. Those with a preference for the XL model won't necessarily have to settle for a plain, single-tone design though. Both The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate will each have special edition New 3DS XL systems which come bundled with the games.
