New Super Mario Bros. 2 looks set to lead this summer's charge on 3DS, and with its release nearing, Nintendo has released a new trailer for the game.

Returning are power-ups that were introduced in the game's predecessor, including the Mini and Mega Mushrooms. New power-ups include the Gold Leaf and Gold Flower, which lend a coin-hoarding element to the game.

Perhaps the game's biggest new feature is a Coin Rush mode, where players are challenged to collect as many coins across three levels. You can challenge others to better your efforts via StreetPass and in multiplayer.

It was also announced last month that you'll be able to download extra Coin Rush levels after the game's release.

New Super Mario Bros. 2 releases in Europe in both retail and download forms on August 17th.
