News: 2 WiiWare, 2 Hanabi Titles For Europe

An obscure Japanese puzzler and a Konami zoo keeping game hit WiiWare, whilst the Hanabi Festival continues for the Virtual Console.
It's an interesting week for the European Wii Shop Channel. Nintendo have refused to launch WiiWare and Virtual Console titles on the same day since the launch of WiiWare, which has royally messed up our simply named 'VC Weekly' feature ('VC Fortnightly' just doesn't have the same ring, does it?). This week, we've got two new WiiWare games, as well as two games for the Virtual Console Hanabi Festival!
MaBoShi: The Three Shape Arcade is an obscure Japanese puzzler from Nintendo themselves which revolves around squares, circles and bars. You play three games at once, one with each shape, though actions you make in one game may affect what happens in another. Confusing, but we suppose it'll become clearer once you've given it a go. MaBoShi also supports Miis, and allows you to send action replays to your friends via WiiConnect24. Interestingly, you can also download a portable version of the game to your DS to play on the go, making this the second WiiWare title to utilise DS-Wii connectivity (the first was Pokémon Ranch, which linked up with Pokémon Diamond and Pearl). MaBoShi: The Three Shape Arcade is available now for 800 Wii Points.
Konami's Critter Round-Up is the second WiiWare offering this week, which sees you assuming the role of a lone zoo keeper who must separate all the animals in his zoo by building fences around the little critters. That's about all there is to it. Critter Round-Up is available now for 1000 Wii Points.
The Hanabi Festival also continues this week, blessing Europeans with Japanese and American titles which have never before reached our shores. Last week we finally experienced the wonder of Super Mario RPG: The Legend of the Seven Stars and got another chance to buy Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels (Sam's reviews should be with us very soon). As we reported earlier this week, we have two more titles today courtesy of Konami and Namco Bandai.
Konami's Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa, originally released on the Japanese Famicom Disk System in 1988, is a charming platformer which puts you in the role of a superhero baby named Upa. Upa, rather idiotically, smashed a powerful urn and unleashed an evil goat-demon spirit named Zai who proceeds to sap the life force of every adult and kidnap all babies. Fun. Upa is capable of thwacking enemies with his magic rattle to inflate them, allowing him to bounce or ride on their balloon-corpses. Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa is available now for 600 Wii Points.
Also released this week is Namco Bandai's arcade classic Dig Dug, originally released in 1990 for the Famicom Disk System. Dig Dug sees you drilling through treacherous caverns and defeating terrible cave monsters in order to progress and earn points. Dig Dug is available now for 600 Wii Points.
As ever, stick around for Sam's reviews of the Hanabi Festival VC titles in the next edition of VC Weekly as well as reviews of this week's WiiWare titles.
