News: 21 Million DS Sold!

Nintendo has now sold (not shipped!) over 21 million units of the DS hardware - both original and Lite - in under two years!

The Big N has smashed another milestone in the ongoing success story of the DS. It has been just over a year and a half since the system's late November launch in 2004 for the US and Japan, and since then, Nintendo has now sold more than 21 million of the DS and DS Lite units worldwide.

Compare this to the iPod, which only sold one million in its first 19 months. In other trivia news, this equates to a DS being sold 23 times a minute since launch - or almost one every two seconds; quite an achievement for a under-powered system against Sony's graphically superior PSP. Could this be an indicator of things to come?
