Nintendo says it has received more than 25,000 pre-orders for the GameCube in the United Kingdom. Nintendo is even optimistic enough to claim that that number will have doubled by the end of the month.

European marketing director David Gosen said he is delighted at the initial reaction. He said the encouraging pre-order reports have been repeated across Europe. He commented: "We are giving gamers a great offer and it is clear they are responding."

We don't have any numbers yet for the rest of Europe, but we're pretty confident they're as good as in the UK.
