News: 3DS Spreads The Love in Japan

Love Plus tops the chart as 3DS sails past five million...
3DS has officially sold over five million units in Japan less than a year of being on shelves, following the latest Media Create charts.
The record-breaking feat was achieved alongside the successful release of Konami's New Love Plus. The latest entry in the bafflingly popular girlfriend-sim franchise claimed the top spot comfortably, becoming one of the most successful third party 3DS games to date.
It was a tale of contrasting fortunes though for other third party 3DS games.Tekken 3D undisputedly under-performed, whilst Chunsoft's sequel to the cult DS adventure 999 (never released in Europe) just about charted both on 3DS and Vita.
The software chart for February 13th through to 19th is as follows.

The popularity of a new Love Plus game was more than enough to boost the 3DS to push it past the five million mark in a record-breaking 51 weeks. New titles for other platforms was not enough to stem a general slump where everything else was concerned. 3DS sales accounted for over 60 percent of all hardware sales for the week.
