Nintendo has shipped 4 million units in America and Japan since the console launched late last year. Nintendo predicts they will sell 12 million units by the end of the year.
Titles like Eternal Darkness, Super Mario Sunshine, Zelda GC, and Metroid Prime will spearhead what will arguably be the GameCube's most important year software-wise, selling systems to those who have yet to be charmed by the GameCube's lineup.
By this prediction, Nintendo is destined to outsell the Xbox with its currently sluggish sales, but stay far behind Sony's PlayStation 2 in term of total hardware units sold.
Analysts however say that PS2 sales will lower during the year, while GameCube and Xbox sales should rise.
