News: 600,000 Unit Initial Order for Ni No Kuni

600,000 copies of Level-5's Ni No Kuni have been ordered, making it the most popular title in the developer's repertoire.

The combination of Studio Ghibli, the film studio behind hits such as Spirited Away, Porco Rosso and My Neighbour Totoro, and Level-5, the developers behind the Professor Layton series, was bound to bring in a great number of fans. Andriasang report that at yesterday's launch party for Ni No Kuni that exact number was announced - 600,000.

Speaking at the launch event for Ni No Kuni Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino announced that the initial order number for the title had hit 600,000, more than any other title in their catalogue. Speaking at the event Mr. Hino stated, "We consider Ni no Kuni to be Level-5's next big title to follow Professor Layton and Inazuma Eleven."

The title will be cross-promoted in a variety of aspects within Japan starting from today. Gamers will be able to receive special downloads via the Nintendo Zone service and pop into McDonalds to download special Imagine (the monsters that you can collect and raise in the title) and view an in-restaurant gallery featuring artwork by Studio Ghibli.
