News: Activision Profits Increasing

Activision have had a strong first quarter of the fiscal year 2005, thanks to games such as Spider-Man 2 and Shrek 2, with earnings up $7.8 million over last year's period.

Activision, Inc. announced that profits were soaring up for the first quarter of the fiscal year 2005, which ended June 30, 2004. Net revenues were up $52.6 million from last year to $211.3 million. Meanwhile net income has increased to $12 million, up $7.8 million from last year's $4.2 million.

The companies success is in no small part down to Spider-Man 2 and Shrek 2. Both of these titles have shipped more then five million units together and have been the number one selling game in the USA in June and May respectively.

Activision have a strong future as well, with their highly anticipated title DOOM 3 due out next month. As well as DOOM 3 before the end of the fiscal year Activision will release Rome: Total War, Call of Duty: United Offensive, X-Men Legends and Shark Tale.
