Breaking: The New York Times scoops Nintendo, spilling the beans on the Wii's price, new features and November launch date.
With Nintendo set to announce later on today all the key information regarding the Wii's launch, it seems The New York Times has beaten them to it. This very morning they published all the details everybody wanted to know. Let's get down to it.
November 19th is the set date and the price will be $250 (197 or 133) which will indeed make it the cheapest console from the big three. As has been previously stated by many rumours, the Wii will infact ship with WiiSports which includes games such as tennis, baseball, golf and also a new bowling game. Games will be selling for $50, making it $10 cheaper than an average Xbox 360 game and with about 25 games within the launch window, the cheaper the better really.
The Virtual Console will also be packing its own fair share of games with a good 30 available from launch, ranging from a respectable $5 to $10 in price. It is not definate what games will be available yet but Nintendo have stated titles starring favourite Nintendo characters, Mario, Zelda and Donkey Kong will be among the line-up.
In what seems possibly like a finger pointing at Sony with a rye smile, Nintendo also claim they will have shipped 4 million units worlwide by the end of the year. This is in comparison to the meagre 400,000 PS3's for North America and the other 100,000 for Japan.
