News: Americans Soon Rocking With Ouendan!?

Psst... It may take a makeover, but it looks like the male cheerleaders of Ouendan fame will make it to the US.

Those good guys over at N-Philes are being cautiously optimistic about this, but apparently their interview with G4's X-Play co-host Morgan Webb unearthed some great news for American DS owners. N-Philes is reporting that the cult import hit (in that it seems to have sold most of its copies to curious importers) Ossu! Tatakae! Ouendan! will be released in the US under the name Elite Agent Force. Though long the subject of rumour (and already unofficially confirmed for the UK), anticipation and demand for the game grew in true grassroots style: word of mouth, and the reach of the internet. Who do Americans have to thank for this somewhat surprising release? Supposedly Nintendo themselves. Apparently finding the game wacky and unique (not to mention addictive) enough to take a chance on, it is yet unknown what other changes besides the title NOA has in store.

Developed by music game gurus Inis, of Gitaroo Man fame, Ouendan puts the gamer in control of... well, to put it exactly, a powerfully motivational group of male cheerleaders. Their task is to uplift ordinary (Japanese) citizens in times of great need, to the backdrop of catchy J-pop and lively manga artwork. As it was published in Japan last July by Nintendo of Japan, it is fitting that NOA is taking the responsibility this time.

We will have more on Ouendan soon, along with any further word on its European release, as it is looking likely to be one of Nintendo's surprise titles in what many game journalists are hinting to be a powerful DS showing at E3.
