American analysts are predicting 750,000 3DS units were sold during the five days it was available for in March.

In spite of only being available to purchase for five days in March analysts in America are expecting sales of the 3DS to hit 750,000 units during this period according to GamesIndustry.biz.

The console is expected to be a "stabilising factor" for the handheld market, which is currently in decline, according to Doug Creutz from Cowen and Company. Mr. Creutz also anticipates Pokémon Black & White to sell 3 million copies combined and top the software charts for March.

The ever-pessimistic Michael Pachter from Wedbush Morgan predictions are less optimistic. He believes that the 3DS will have sold 500,000 and cut the sales of the original DS in half in the process. Mr. Pachter's prediction for Pokémon Black & White is also much lower than Mr. Creutz, with a prediction of a combined 1.4 million units sold.

The actual figures will be released by NPD this Thursday.
