Animal Crossing: Wild World

News: Animal Crossing: Wild World Details

When it was announced that Animal Crossing: Wild World would accept Wi-Fi connections fan's anticipation of this title soared, and today Nintendo of America have released information that'll make you want the game even more!

While Nintendo is heavily promoting the Wi-Fi connection for Animal Crossing: Wild World they have not forgotten the good old Local Area Network available for DS users. When people are within wireless range of each other they can travel to each other's town. One person will act as the host, enabling up to three people to visit their town.

When you are visiting someone else's town you can fish, talk to townsfolk, shop and much more. You can also talk in real time to the other players using text messaging and emoticons. However, each player will need a copy of the game to enter multiplayer mode.

The fun doesn't end when you leave someone else's town though, as the following events can occur afterwards.

  • One of the characters in the town they visited might move to their town, and vise versa.
  • "Bottle mail," a bottle containing a letter written by someone in another town, might wash ashore in their town.
  • Constellations created by someone visiting their town might appear in the night sky.

The Wi-Fi multiplayer options works in much the same way, except players must be registered on their friends list to enter someone else's town. To add someone to your friend list is a simple process, but is Nintendo's way to try and enable you to know who you are playing against. The friends list can be accessed anytime during the game, and to register a name to it you can use one of the following two options:

  • When visiting someone else's town using the Local Area Network connection you can take other player's names. So if you let others into your town, or if you go to someone else's town, you can simply access the friends list and then click on the names you wish to add.
  • When players register their game with Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection they will receive their own unique Friend Registration Key. They can then set a password and pass on these details to their friends, so you can visit someone else's town while hundreds of miles away from them!

All this new information suggests that Animal Crossing: Wild World is going to be a massive multiplayer hit on the DS. Unfortunately there is still no European release date for this title at present, but we can always hope it lands on European shores soon.
